I wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and support while in seminary. The Lord has called me to serve at St. John Lutheran Church in Massillon, OH. I thank and praise God for His grace and mercy.
Please keep my family and I in your prayers as I finish seminary and we transition to Massillon.
St. John's is happy to announce that Seminarian Jon Carpenter has been given a Divine Call to serve as Associate Pastor of St. John's! This was announced on Wednesday, April 28th, at the annual Call Day Service at Concordia Theological Seminary of Fort Wayne, where Jon is a fourth-year student preparing for the pastoral ministry. He is finishing up his classes and other academic work this spring and will graduate with a Master of Divinity Degree at commencement exercises later this month. Pending the completion of his studies, he will be in position officially to accept the call and eventually be ordained and installed in the next few months here at the church. He and his wife, Shannon, have three children, Alexander, Elliana, and Arielle.
According to his call, Candidate-Elect Carpenter will assist Senior Pastor John Telloni in carrying out the mission and ministry of St. John's, with special attention to outreach and family and youth programming.
Both Jon and Shannon joined St. John's in 2009 and have been members ever since. They were both active in the congregation as Youth Counselors and Sunday School and Vacation Bible Teachers, in addition to other activities, with Jon eventually becoming Vice-President of the congregation until they left for the seminary in 2016.
We pray God's blessings upon the Carpenter family in the days and weeks to come as they prepare to move back to Ohio, find a home, and rejoin the fellowship here at the congregation.
